In the packaging world, as in many other industries, trade shows are an epicenter of emerging technology and relationship building.  Participance is a luxury to some and mandatory for others, regardless, you should make the most of your attendance if you get to go.

As a regular Pack Expo attendee in the US, I thought I knew everything there was to know about large packaging trade shows.  I was wrong.

INTERPACK held at Messe Dϋsseldorf in Germany is the #1 trade show in the Packaging industry.  The exhibition consists of 19 buildings plus outdoor space on 75 acres (300,000 m2) and in May 2011, I was there.

Here is some perspective:

  • INTERPACK Exhibition:     75 acres (166,000 attendees)
  • MGM Film Studio lot:          43 acres
  • PackExpo Exhibition:         25 acres (45,000 attendees)
